Daily tip …
The GAG bit you know?
There are two loops on each side that pass through the cheak pieces of the Gag bit (see picture). In fact, when you touch the reins, the pressure points on the horse are also in the mouth zone, but especially in the top point of the horse’s head.
This bit actually helps in situations where the horse pulls, or horses that lock and run …
Clearly there is no substitute for good ground work, which solve everything from the body and the correct aids,
But this bit is definitely a convenient accessory to use.
I use this bit on jump courses when I’m on a very strong horse that can put a lot of weight on my hand, I know in advance that I’ll need more energy – but I still want the horse to be light on the hand.
But, what can I do when i need this bit and don’t have one?
Here is the solution –
I make sure I always have a couple of GAG cheak in the closet, even without the gag bit itself.
I transfer the straps from the bridle pass them through the usual bit-and you get a GAG bit!
